Ecole Communautaire Jean Paul II
One of the most remote schools in the network, the school in the community of Matbatimant rests atop the peak of a mountain far above another Summits school in the community of Lacolline that lies in the valley. Although it is remote and held beneath a wooden stick structure, the teachers and parents are dedicated to caring for it. The village’s name translates to, “remnants of the boat,” because, according to legend, part of Noah’s Ark was found nearby. Without this school, children would be forced to hike down the mountain each day to find one closer into the town of Lacolline.

When you sponsor a Summits school you are investing in the promise of a bright future for the children of Haiti. Our mission at Summits is nothing less than changing the trajectory of a generation of Haitians to aim for a better life, a more sustainable community, and a vibrant and productive country. To achieve this goal, we are committed to providing the very best education to our students, by training their teachers, building their schools and supporting them as they reach far beyond the mountains of the Central Plateau to realize their most ambitious dreams. When you sponsor a Summits school you are helping to make dreams come true.
