Ecole Bénoit Batraville
A small wooden schoolhouse next to a community church, the school in Morène is close to the border with the Dominican Republic. Many of the students and their families have been affected by border issues and deportations, and are making the transition back to Haiti. This school is critical for children who cannot travel to the larger town of Lascahobas. Before it was incorporated into the Summits network, teachers worked without pay and hoped for intermittent wages provided by the town mayor. The school stands because of the effort and support of its community.
