We assemble partners to help address the additional obstacles to learning such as lack of infrastructure and school feeding programs.

Whole Child Approach

We consider addressing all the basic needs of our students as a critical responsibility to delivering quality education. These include: food security, healthcare, and social and emotional learning.

Invest in Teachers

At Summits, we recognize that educators are the most important factor in improving student outcomes, and that access to an education delivered by determined, compassionate, skillful teachers is one of the most fundamental ways to change the landscape of poverty.

Traditionally, efforts to advance education in the developing world have focused on investments in concrete materials; schools are built, curricula designed, and then with any remaining resources, investments are made in teachers. This approach is backward.

Effective education systems are built upon the foundation of well-trained and well-supported teachers and administrators. We start our work by investing in teachers, and through our collaborative impact framework, we assemble partners to help address the additional obstacles to learning such as lack of infrastructure, school feeding programs, and learning materials.

Collaborative Impact

Traditional approaches to improving education systems in impoverished communities aren't working; too many organizations are working in isolation, competing for limited resources, and lacking a cohesive strategy. Delivering quality education to vulnerable populations can only succeed through collaboration and partnerships. Our Collaborative Impact approach brings together government, non-profit, and for-profit actors in a structured way around the common agenda of strengthening Haiti's education system. Through metrics-driven and coordinated interventions, and commitment to transparency, this approach maximizes impact and fosters systemic change.
